Due to the standardised connection ODBC, DORSERV is able to drive all kind of databases (MySQL, MS Access, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server, etc.) and allows to design HTML forms called "templates" via a standard HTML editor (MS Frontpage, Dreamveawer, etc.). DORSERV is delivered with the following modules :

- a GET or POST method (Java Servlets), derivable and generic, insuring a bridge between the server and the database,

- an HTML parser and synthetiser allowing to interprete the DORSERV tags of the HTML "templates". THe tags are replaced by the values extracted from the database,

- a database access using the Java standard JDBC, allowing to power DORSERV of the ODBC database access standard,

- a light database DORDB (JDBC is switched off), allowing to develop a rapid database handling small amounts of data. DORDB stores data in ASCII files. The data is readable via MS Excel or ever ASCII editor.

DORSERV interpretes the tags contained into the HTML forms called "templates". DORSERV provides a powerful language, easy to use, similar to the one provided with MS Excel. This allows the generation of HTML pages including data extracted from the database.
